We have a selection of resources that will support your studies of the medieval and Tudor periods in your classroom and compliment your visit to the Richard III Experience or the Henry VII Experience. From replica artefacts to borrow, to videos to watch in the classroom, scroll down to learn more…
Bring the Tudor period to your classroom with one of our Loan Boxes! Our Tudor Loan Box contains real and replica artefacts that can be used to compliment a visit to Barley Hall and to aid a study on medieval and Tudor times at school. Learn more about our Loan Boxes here.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have made some changes to our Loan
Box Service to ensure that our boxes are Covid-secure and that we can support you to use them in as safe a way as possible.
Some objects – such as items of clothing – may have been removed, substituted or sealed to minimise risk of infection. All boxes are quarantined on their return to us, and cleaned with specialist equipment in accordance with government guidelines.
The boxes cost £24 each for the first week, followed by £6 for each additional week up to a maximum of four weeks. Loan boxes have to be collected and returned to DIG: An Archaeological Adventure. Unfortunately, we cannot send the boxes via post or courier.
To place a booking, you can usually contact us via email or phone, but our team are currently unavailable as our attractions are temporarily closed. If you have an urgent query, please email email@example.com.
Shaking Hands with the Past
As part of ‘Finding the Future‘, York Archaeological Trust’s Resilience Project, we have produced a series of vodcasts entitled ‘Shaking Hands with the Past’ specifically for our school’s audience. Each of the second season’s presentations features one of our unique artefacts and explains their use, construction and history in easily understood terms and with the help of a friendly medieval resident! These vodcasts can be used by teachers, parents and pupils to help bring alive the topic of living in medieval York.
Episode 1 – Archer’s Bracer
Episode 2 – Ampullae
Episode 3 – Seal Matrices
Episode 4 – Medieval Mystery Object
