Explore the Micklegate area of York…

…as it might have been at the close of the 15th century, during Richard’s visits to the city, first as Duke of Gloucester, then as king. By looking at key historical, archaeological and architectural evidence, we will examine how the city geared up to welcome its royal visitor, and what the neighbourhood might have been like at other times. Includes admission to Micklegate Bar, where a number of small finds will be on display.

As most of this event is outdoors and elements of the walk include steps and uneven surfaces, please wear sturdy footwear and outdoor clothing appropriate to the weather on the day. Unfortunately, due to the historic nature of the City Walls and Micklegate Bar, the Walking Tours are not wheelchair-accessible. Please contact access@yorkat.co.uk to discuss accessible alternatives to the Tours.

All participants are strongly advised to wear face coverings when inside Micklegate Bar and to maintain social distancing at all times. Numbers will be strictly limited.
