Explore York’s City Walls

Join York Archaeological Trust for a tour of the city walls from above and from below, between Baile Hill and Micklegate Bar, highlighting some of the sites of archaeological and historical importance along this stretch of wall and in the Clementhorpe and Bishophill areas. Discover the results of the recent investigations of Tower Two. Tickets include admission to Micklegate Bar, where several medieval small finds will be on display. Pre-booking is essential.

As most of this event is outdoors and elements of the walk include steps and uneven surfaces, please wear sturdy footwear and outdoor clothing appropriate to the weather on the day. Unfortunately, due to the historic nature of the City Walls and Micklegate Bar, the Walking Tours are not wheelchair-accessible. Please contact access@yorkat.co.uk to discuss accessible alternatives to the Tours.

All participants are strongly advised to wear face coverings when inside Micklegate Bar and to maintain social distancing at all times. Numbers will be strictly limited.
