Starting at the newly re-opened York Theatre Royal, which was built on the site of the medieval St Leonard’s Hospital precinct, your guide will discuss the visible remains of the hospital.

Your tour continues across the city, taking in well known sites including the remains of St Mary’s Abbey, once home to Benedictine monks and one of the wealthiest abbeys in the North.

Walk lasts approx 1 hour, be prepared to walk long distances and up steps as you follow York’s medical history. Be advised that the majority of the walk takes place outdoors, so dress please accordingly for the weather.
